I have been having computer problems and have lost a lot of files. I am kind of in a state of shock as I don’t know where to start to get things back the way they were (if that is even possible).
I’m trying to be cool about it, but when I think of all I lost, I shudder and get sick to my stomach.

I lost all of ‘my favorites’ and contacts. Also I keep getting a message that says local area connection – a network cable is unplugged. It flashed connected on second and then unplugged the next. frustrating!

Leigh,
I can understand how that can be annoying. The unplugged message can be because the cable is defect, the device in the other end of the cable is defect, the network card in your PC is defect, or you just need to reinstall the driver for your network card. Lightning can cause such intermittent problems, and it doesn’t need to strike directly at your place.
