My goodness ~ we just had a beautiful Sunday with temperatures in the 70’s and today we didn’t get much above 40 degrees. This weather is crazy and it’s hard to know what to expect. Atleast the crias are prepared for the Christmas-like weather with their fancy bows around their necks!

Crosby and La Salle (Sally) wish you a Merry Christmas! If it had been possible, I think an alpaca would have been present for the birth of Jesus. Can you just see a cria cuddling with the baby? Atleast a member of the camelid family was there….eventually.
Cute, cute, CUTE!

Awww, this is a SWEET photo of your crias. I am surprised they didn’t pick at the bows. Our little ones are so curious and won’t leave anything alone. LOL This would make a wonderful handmade Christmas card with picture!

How do your Crias handle the heat? I’ve been thinking about breeding Alpacas down-under in Australia for their fleece to make Alpaca Clothing , but i don’t know how they will handle the heat.

Patryk,
Thanks for reading my blog. We can get in to the 100’s F here, but it’s usually a dry heat. We keep oscillating fans in their pole barns, have shade and when very hot will cool their bellies with spray from a hose. We also shear them well before the heat comes so they don’t have to deal with all that fleece. If the cria are born after shearing, we will take them to a local shearer if they have problems. Hope this helps.
